The German Football Federation, also known as DFB, announced the names nominated for the 2015 Ambassador for German Football Audience award today. The ambassador is chosen by the German people and it will go to a player who plays abroad and is doing a great job on branding German Football.
A total of eleven names have been listed and amongst them we have Shkodran Mustafi. The 2014 World Cup winner is the only Albanian on the list which also includes players such as Miroslav Klose, Mesut Özil and FIFA’s world player of the year 2013 Nadine Angerer. The audience award was introduced three years ago and has already been awarded to André Schürrle (2014) and Sami Khedira (2013).
As I mentioned earlier 22-year-old Mustafi was a part of Germany’s team who won the World Cup last summer. He was not even suppose to attend but the coach changed his mind and decided to call him in afterwards. A month later he signed with Spanish team Valencia and the defender has already scored four goals in La Liga.
The Germans have until May 10th to vote for their favorite player and the winner will be announced on June 2nd. If you want to cast your vote on Mustafi or any other player you can do so by clicking on this link.
